Darin H. Duphorne

Of Counsel

Darin Duphorne is a seasoned intellectual property lawyer with more than 30 years of experience in patent, trademark, copyright, and technology matters. He focuses his practice on providing full-service intellectual property counsel, including patent and trademark clearance, portfolio management, prosecution, litigation support, and complex transactional work.

Before joining MNB, Darin spent over 25 years in-house at multinational companies. He was with Baker Hughes for the past 20 years where he most recently led the global intellectual property function for its Oilfield Services & Equipment businesses, managing international patent and trademark portfolios, overseeing litigation, and advising executive leadership on joint ventures, licensing, M&A due diligence, and highly complex joint ventures and acquisitions/divestitures. Prior to Baker Hughes, he also worked at Cooper Industries (successor to the Thomas A. Edison company – now EATON), where he was responsible for all intellectual property on behalf of the company, including protecting and growing an extensive and complex trademark portfolio of both industrial and world-famous retail brands while advising on product clearance, acquisitions, and technology strategy.

Earlier in his career, Darin practiced at Tobor & Goldstein LLP, a full-service IP boutique, where he gained broad experience in patent and trademark prosecution, litigation, and client counseling. That early private practice experience, coupled with decades of in-house leadership, gives him a unique perspective on aligning practical legal advice with business solutions.

Darin has advised on matters across a wide range of industries and technologies, including oilfield equipment and services, industrial and consumer products, fiber optics, medical devices, semiconductors, and software. He is also a named inventor on more than 15 U.S. patents.
