Brian Welborn is an accomplished intellectual property attorney with over 20 years’ experience, spanning private practice, government and corporate in-house counsel positions. Prior to joining Meade Neese & Barr, Brian served as Assistant General Counsel – Intellectual Property for Honeywell, managing the global IP portfolios for Honeywell Process Solutions, Smart Energy & Software. Prior to that, Brian gained significant experience in the oilfield service industry as in-house counsel with both Baker Hughes and Weatherford.
Brian is a registered patent attorney and an engineer. He has broad experience in the areas of IP litigation, patent office and IPR proceedings, IP monetization & licensing, commercial transactions, compliance and M&A. He has handled matters involving a wide array of technologies and industries including oilfield services, mining, electronics, software sensors, electrochemical sensors, materials science, polycrystalline synthetic diamond, medical devices and procedures, 3D manufacturing, consumer products, organic fertilizer, device and methods for zero gravity experimentation, and chemical toxicity biosensors.
During his 17-year career at Baker Hughes, Brian served as a member on the Drill Bits Executive Leadership Team located in The Woodlands, Texas. Prior to Baker Hughes, Brian worked as an associate for a large law firm in Memphis, Tennessee and as a patent attorney for NASA – Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Prior to becoming an attorney, Brian served as a design engineer in the aerospace defense industry in Austin, Texas.
